Las Cafeteras con 'La Bamba Rebelde'

ROHNERT PARK.- Las Cafeteras, una banda integrada por pochas y chicanos del este de Los Ángeles, llegaron al Green Music Center, de Sonoma State University, con su fusión de son jarocho y hip hop. Y sacudieron al auditorio.

El concierto fue gratis. Auspiciado por la universidad, fue momento oportuno para que la comunidad hispana del condado saliera a disfrutar de un estilo musical común en el sur de California, pero algo exótico en esta región del norte de la bahía.

Las Cafeteras, a band made of Pochas and Chicanos from Eastern Los Angeles came  to Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center for a free concert funded by the school, shaking the auditorium last Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Their unique blend of Son Jarocho, a folk/dance genre hailing from Veracruz, Mexico, and hip-hop brought the community a chance to hear a musical style common to Southern California, but quite rare and exotic anywhere north of the Bay. The video above shows Las Cafeteras performing their song “La Bamba Rebelde,” and the crowd rising from their seats to dance to the beat.
