La Misa Negra estará en festival de música BottleRock
SANTA ROSA — La Misa Negra será la banda representante del Área de la Bahía en el próximo festival BottleRock, junto con Rodrigo y Gabriela, y Ozomatli, en lo que al ámbito latino se refiere, del 27 al 29 de mayo en Napa Valley Expo.
Marco Polo Santiago, líder fundador de La Misa Negra respondió a nuestra llamada desde Oakland, donde los ocho integrantes de la banda crearon el estilo afrocolombiano que los caracteriza, con mucha cumbia y fusiones africanas. “Desde noviembre que sellamos el trato estamos emocionados, y sin saber quién estarían en el programa”.
Ahora está más que emocionado de saber que asistirán al festival los Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz y Stevie Wonder. “Espero que toquemos el mismo día que alguno de ellos”, dijo Marco Polo. Hasta ahora los organizadores no han revelado los horarios ni días de las presentaciones de las bandas invitadas, apenas difundieron los artistas participantes este martes.
“Esto es un impulso a nuestra carrera. Tenemos un disco publicado y estamos trabajando en el segundo. Esto nos dará mucha exposición y tendremos que llevar nuestro mejor sonido para la gente que no nos ha escuchado”, expuso Marco Polo.
Agregó: “Somos el representante del Área de la Bahía, en cuanto a lo que se refiere a las bandas latinas. Está Rodrigo y Gabriela, quienes son latinos pero no tocan música latina. Y Ozomatli, que tienen la garantía de dar un buen concierto. Nosotros llevaremos el ritmo de la bahía, de California, y del ‘West Coast’”.

Al festival de música, del vino y de la cerveza, BottleRock, llegarán además otras agrupaciones que se presentarán en cuatro escenarios, incluidos Ziggy Marley, Florence and The Machine, The Lumineers, Monophonics, Fantastic Negrito, Death Cab for Cutie, Walk the Moon, Grouplove, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Gogol Bordello, Iration, Buddy Guy, Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness, y muchos más, según anunciaron este martes.
Los organizadores esperan que la lista de actuaciones, ya más de 75, incremente en los próximos meses. La Misa Negra will represent Latinos in the Bay Area, along with Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Ozomatli, at the 2016 Napa Bottlerock festival from May 27 to 29 at the Napa Valley Expo.
Marco Polo Santiago, the founder and leader of La Misa Negra, answered our phone call from Oakland, where the eight members have created their Afro-Colombian music with a unique blend of 1950's and 60's style cumbia. “We have been excited since November, when we sealed the deal, and excited to find out who else was on the line-up.”
Now they are more excited knowing the line-up includes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder. “I hope we play the same day as any of them,” said Santiago. So far, the times and days of the performers have not been released, just the participating bands and artists.
“This is a boost to our career. We have one album and we are working on the second. This will give us a lot of exposure and we will have to put out our best sound for those who haven’t heard our music before.” explained Santiago.
He added: “We are representative of the Latinos in the Bay Area. Rodrigo y Gabriela are latinos, but not playing Latino music, and Ozomatli, who will give a good concert. We will take the pace of the Bay, California and the West Coast.”
