Guy Fieri, the local super chef and host of the TV series “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” was at Taqueria Molcajetes this Thursday morning with his production crew.

A reader informed La Prensa Sonoma about the presence of the chef and television personality Fieri at the Mexican food joint at 1195 W. College Ave., next to Safeway.

The production crew did not give details of their work there, and neither of the owners of the restaurant returned calls. But customers said the shooting was for “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives,” which is broadcasted by Food Network.

The restaurant’s specialty is molcajete, a dish served in a stone bowl used for grinding ingredients — essentially the Mexican version of a mortar and pestle.

In the series, host Fieri travels through the United States in search of some of the best restaurants recognized among locals and others in the region. At each location, Fieri talks with staff and customers to get their opinions about the food.
