Gentrification in Santa Rosa’s Roseland neighborhood addressed by NorCal Public Media and La Prensa Sonoma

La Prensa Sonoma and NorCal Public Media partnered for a story about gentrification on Roseland’s Cinco de Mayo festivities, where residents from Santa Rosa’s neighborhood expressed their hopes and fears about the issue.

This production was broadcast on Sunday’s show “Connect The Bay”, addressing gentrification and displacement around the Bay Area, from San José to Santa Rosa.

The special transmission streamed live at KRCB TV, KPJK TV and Facebook Live, featuring stories about Oakland and the Roseland neighborhood of Santa Rosa, with elected officials, non-profit leaders and community members from the South Bay and the peninsula.

La Prensa Sonoma has written plenty of stories throughout the year related to the upcoming changes and expectation for the Roseland neighborhood, since its anexation to the city of Santa Rosa in 2017, such as the promises made by local authorities, to the recent approval of the long-awaited housing and retail project.
